I am a wife and mother of 3 wonderful children. My mother died when I was around 5 years old. I grew up middle class and was plunged into poverty in my late teens and into college when my father exited my life as a caregiver. I graduated from college with significant debt and a passion to succeed. Eventually I did succeed but I was not rich as Obama would say. I remember the distinct impact “tax-freedom day” had on me. “Tax-freedom Day” was the day I did not have to pay any more social security from my paycheck. Having that extra money was critical in the second half of the year to pay down my bills and pay off my school debt. Working hard in this country should be rewarded. It’s the American way and Obama wants to take that away.
I know personally that in order to succeed and sometimes just to survive we must be able to keep as much of our resources as possible and money is near the top of that list. We can do so much more good with our money than the government if given the chance.
We have to pay taxes to support this great country but it should never be more than half of what we make. The other side of this issue is making Congress be more responsible with the money we already give them. Join the fight with me today to create more opportunity for Americans everywhere and keep taxes low.
